Day One - Tel Megiddo

Today we slept in a bit, getting a little extra sleep after checking in at the hotel at 2:30 am local time. After a good breakfast, we went to Tel Megiddo (aka Har Megiddo - Armegeddon), and walked through the ruins. This ancient city was inhabited for 7,000 years from circa 9,000 bce to 400 bce. It is in a strategic place at the crossroads of the ancient trade routes between Europe and Mesoptamia in the North and Egypt in the South.

As you can see from the photo, we are now a group of 7 (the magnificent seven, as we have named ourselves). We already miss Betty Brown, who didn't make the trip due to an unforeseen illness of her husband Forrest. We miss you Betty!

The "Magnificent Seven" look refreshed & great! And the Mediggo digs are fascinating. I liked the model … under the roof … and the springs … because in February it was raining, so our tour outside seemed a bit hurried. Enjoy, Dick
