Welcome to KHA California

Welcome to the blog for the Keep Hope Alive team.

This group of eight people from the Bay Area, Northern California will be traveling in October and November of 2008 to Israel-Palestine for a service-learning mission trip with the Joint Action Initiative of the YWCA-YMCA.  Olive trees are symbolic of many things: peace, land ownership, prosperity, and the blessing of the Lord.

Each year we try to send at least two teams to Israel-Palestine.  One in February to plant olive trees and one in October to help with the olive harvest.  The California KHA team consists of members of the Redwoods, San Francisco, and San Jose Presbyteries.  Our first group of 20 people went in February 2002 to plant trees and have been tireless in sharing about their experiences and hosting educational events since then.  One day, we hope to be able to offer group trips in the summer for educators, students, and seminarians.
Please check back at this site starting October 19th to meet our team, and hear about our trip to the Holy Land.  May peace prevail in all parts of the world.
